New K-9 joins Lebanon police force
A new police K-9 has joined the Lebanon Police Department.K-9 Blesk is a 1-year-old male Belgian Malinois that was born in Slovakia and brought to the United States in November.>> Download the free WMUR appBlesk will be partnered with Senior Officer Jeremy Perkins, who most recently worked with K-9 Max until Max died of cancer on Dec. 11, 2017.Police said Blesk was selected after a long vetting process that involved numerous K-9 candidates.Belgian Malinois are known for being tenacious, energetic, intelligent and friendly, officials said.Blesk will be dually trained in both drug detection and patrol functions at the Vermont Police Canine Academy in Pittsford, Vermont, beginning this month.Upon completing training, Perkins and Blesk will be assigned to the patrol bureau.
