Bathinda, December 17

Surinder Singh was motivated by his father Kuldip Singh to take up shooting. Over the years, it was his father’s persistence that helped Surinder pursue his dream. To make sure that his son didn’t face any hurdles in his training, Kuldip took a loan of Rs 5 lakh.

Surinder recently brought laurels to the Mansa district as he won the gold medal in the 10-metre air pistol team event in the Asian Air Gun Championship held from December 7 to 11 in Japan.

Surinder is a student of the SDKL DAV Senior Secondary School in Fafde Bhai Ke village in the Mansa district. Surinder said that the fact that he could participate in an international competition and win a gold medal was a matter of pride for him. He gave the credit of his victory to his family and his school.
