Political Cornflakes: Mitt Romney’s secret alter ego, ‘conversion therapy’ and payday loans

(Rick Bowmer | AP file photo) Stephen Graham, President and General Manager Standard of Liberty, speaks during a hearing Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, in Salt Lake City. LGBTQ people who say they suffered shame and suicidal thoughts after undergoing gay conversion therapy urged Utah state officials to approve a proposed rule that would prohibit Utah psychologists from the practice that is already banned in 18 states. Opponents who spoke during the hearing countered that the rule should be tabled because they contend it will prevent parents from getting their children help with "unwanted" homosexual feelings.

In an interview with The Atlantic, Utah Senator Mitt Romney revealed that he uses a secret Twitter account to keep tabs on political conversation. His screen name? Pierre Delecto. [Trib]

Topping the news: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is suggesting that a proposed ban on “conversion therapy” for minors would put a muzzle on therapists attempting to help youth; advocates argue it would simply prohibit a widely discredited practice that harms members of the LGBTQ community.
