Criminal referral requests seeking charges including murder, medical coercion, racketeering, and terrorism against several former federal health officials, including Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx, have now been filed in seven U.S. states.

The filings, which originated from Vires Law Group and the Former Feds Group Freedom Foundation, have been formally submitted in Arizona and Pennsylvania, expanding upon previous submissions in Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Missouri, and Oklahoma. State attorneys general are being urged to pursue a wide slate of criminal charges, such as murder, negligent homicide, involuntary manslaughter, abuse, racketeering, and operating a corrupt organization.

Named in the referrals are several high-profile pandemic-era figures: Dr. Anthony Fauci, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases; Dr. Deborah Birx, former White House COVID-19 response coordinator; Dr. Rachelle Walensky, former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Dr. Francis Collins, former director of the National Institutes of Health; Dr. Robert Redfield, another former CDC director; Dr. Peter Hotez of Baylor University; and Dr. Peter Daszak, head of EcoHealth Alliance and known research collaborator with the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

According to the filings, the groups claim these individuals participated in policies or actions during the COVID-19 pandemic that warrant criminal prosecution at the state level. Allegations include the promotion of coercive medical protocols and the intentional concealment of evidence concerning the origins and management of the pandemic.

In one unprecedented move, outgoing President Joe Biden issued a preemptive pardon for Fauci on his final day in office. The pardon sought to protect Fauci from federal charges brought by the incoming Trump administration. “Let me be perfectly clear, I have committed no crime and there are no possible grounds for any allegation or threat of criminal investigation or prosecution of me,” Fauci said in response to media inquiries. He added that the possibility of prosecution had caused “immeasurable and intolerable distress” to his family. He also stated that he “truly appreciated” Biden for taking action.

The potential for state-level prosecution remains unaffected by the federal pardon, according to 17 state attorneys general who previously submitted a formal request to Congress in February. The request asked for investigative resources to explore COVID-19 origins and examine whether legal actions against figures like Fauci were warranted. The attorneys general argued that Biden’s pardon only applies to federal prosecution and does not shield the named individuals from accountability under state laws.

One of President Donald Trump’s first actions upon taking office was to revoke Fauci’s security clearance. “You can’t have a security detail for the rest of your life because you work for government,” Trump said. “It’s very standard.”
