Haiti - FLASH : Jean-Charles Moïse apologize to Nicolas Maduro and insult President Moïse
Following the vote of Haiti at the Organization of American States (OAS) against the political legitimacy of President Nicolas Maduro https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26627-haiti-flash-haiti-votes-against-the-legitimacy-of-the-regime-of-president-nicolas-maduro.html (and not against the Venezuelan people https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26669-haiti-news-zapping.html ), Jean-Charles Moïse, Secretary General of the political party of the radical opposition "Pitit Dessalin" writes to the President of Venezuela, arrogating to himself the right to speak on behalf of the Haitian people, to ask forgiveness for this vote which he describes as submission of President Jovenel Moïse that he does not hesitate to insult in his letter.

Excerpt from J-C Moïse letter :
"Port-au-Prince, January 14, 2019
His Excellency Nicolas Maduro
President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
In his palace.

Mr. President,

"[...] The Secretary General of the political party "Pitit Dessalines" of Haiti [...] would like to point out in strong ink that the Haitian people in the largest majority do not find themselves in the action diplomacy of immature power that has been indecently imposed on him.

[...]

Mr. President, ideological questions always raise great differences of opinion, but faith in the triumph of the law enshrined in good governance generally prints in the state reports of directions of conviviality. Political wisdom will be right.

Even if all the other countries of the world voted against Venezuela, Haiti should take a stand for Venezuela, for several reasons :

  • Haiti is the mother of freedom;
  • The founder of the Haitian nation, Jean Jacques Dessalines, preached solidarity among all peoples;
  • The historical links that exist between these two sister nations;
  • Our past morally obliges us to respect the right to self-determination of peoples;
  • With regard to external cooperation, Venezuela is the only country in the world to support Haiti without interference;
  • when economic powers and international financial institutions make loans to Haiti at a high interest rate, about 13%, Venezuela, for its part, claims only 1%.

[...] I take this opportunity to draw to the attention of the Venezuelan people that the vote of submission of Mr. Jovenel Moïse to the OAS does not reflect the will of the Haitian people. This vote only binds Jovenel Moïse who, once again, has just proved that he defends only his personal interests, and this to the detriment of the Haitian people. For, in any case, the vote of Haiti should be a vote of history and reason.

In this circumstance, in the name of the country of Dessalines, on behalf of the valiant people of Haiti and on behalf of all the members and leaders of the Pitit Dessalines Party, I apologize to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for This vote does not reflect the Dessalian ideal. I would also like to extend my sincerest apologies to all members of the regional organization El Camino del Campecino, of which I am one of the leaders.

In the coming days, I intend to go to Venezuela for a courtesy visit. In the wake, the Pitit Dessalines party is preparing a series of activities, including sit-ins, protest movements, with the flag of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and that of Papa Dessalines, the black and red two-color.

Today, the record is clear: Jovenel Moïse suffers from mental disorders. He is a politically insane man, a corrupt man with no ideology. As a result, it can not propose any economic model, any form of cooperation that goes in the direction of collective interests [...]"
