Hoyer Statement on House Republicans’ Latest Attempt to Distract from the President’s Abuse of Power
“The resolution pushed today by House Republicans is nothing more than an attempt to distract the American people from their refusal to answer the question confronting our nation: is it acceptable for a President to openly seek foreign help for his re-election and put his own private interests ahead of our country’s interests?
“No one is above the law, and the House must – and will – continue to investigate this President’s abuse of power and follow the facts where they lead. I stand with Chairman Schiff and other committee chairs involved in exercising the House’s Constitutional oversight role. I urge Republicans to uphold their oath of office and join in the serious and necessary task of ensuring that everybody is held equally accountable under our laws, including the President of the United States.”
